About us

Welcome to our community of faith at First English Lutheran Church of Sharpsburg. We are a community of christians that enjoy good worship, good preaching, good fellowship, and good service. In our midst is represented a wide span of socioeconomic backgrounds and wide array of perspectives, from working class, to professionals, to retired folks from both. We strive to function as brothers and sisters on a common journey of faith, seeking to find Christ's will for each of us individually and communally. We look forward to welcoming visitors in our life together, be it for worship, fellowship, faith formation or service. We are committed to living out our motto of “Come as you are” as we welcome guests in our midst.

 

On any given day you will find the spectrum of attire, from worshipers in the typical Sunday best, up to worshipers in blue jeans or shorts and a t-shirt. We hope you will find us to be a pleasant community dedicated to authenticity in all that we do.

 

If you would like to kick our tires, so to speak, in a non worship setting, consider having breakfast at our monthly diner, Our House Family Diner, on the second Saturday each month from 8am-11am. Our House Family Diner is open in our fellowship hall monthly and features free food, with sit-down table service, and rotating gourmet menu options. You'll feel like you should pay, the food and service are so good. Some of our favorite menu items are Bananas Foster French Toast, Chicken and Waffles, and the Lutheran Simile (our standard breakfast of eggs cooked any style, sausage, hash browns and toast).
